Aging burglar captured on Ring doorbell footage while trying to break into a Queens apartment, police reported. The elderly thief, estimated to be between 60 and 70 years old, successfully managed to steal a cellphone and laptop. The occurrence transpired near 86th Ave. and 143rd St. in Briarwood around noon on Wednesday.
The gray-haired criminal walked up to the third floor. He listened for vacant apartments by placing his ear against several doors. Police shared images from the Ring doorbell footage, which displayed the man picking the lock of the apartment.
The footage revealed the burglar raising his face mask, looking across the hallway where the Ring doorbell recorded his actions. He proceeded to steal a cellphone and laptop from a bedroom. Authorities released surveillance photographs of the suspect on Thursday, requesting public assistance in identifying and locating him.
