Fatal shooting outside Bronx deli: NYPD

Fatal shooting of 42-year-old outside Bronx deli investigated for potential connection to his criminal past; assailant remains at large.

A tragic event occurred early Saturday, as a man was found fatally shot outside a Bronx deli. Police, responding to a 911 call around 4:45 a.m., discovered the 42-year-old victim on the ground outside University Deli in Morris Heights.

The victim had been shot multiple times in the arm and chest. EMS rushed him to Lincoln Hospital, to no avail, as his life could not be saved.

The authorities withheld the victim's name while working to notify family members. Meanwhile, the shooter was observed fleeing the scene.

The police are now examining surveillance footage from the attack. The victim had a criminal record, though its relevance to the incident remains unclear. No arrests have been made.
