Frito-Lay Allergy Alert: Undisclosed Salsa Ingredient

By Lily Hackett June 25, 2023

Frito-Lay recalls Tostitos Avocado Salsa Jar Dip due to undeclared milk allergen; consumers with milk allergies urged to discard affected jars.

Frito-Lay has recently issued a voluntary recall for its Tostitos Avocado Salsa Jar Dip, as it may contain an undeclared milk allergen, according to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Individuals with severe milk allergies or sensitivities could potentially face serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume the product.

Although the front label of the salsa jar is correct, the allergen is not listed in the nutritional information found on the side of the jar. The recall specifically affects the 15-ounce Tostitos Avocado Salsa Jar Dip, which has been available for purchase in stores and online nationwide since April 5, 2023.

No other Tostitos products have been affected by this recall. Consumers with severe milk allergies or sensitivity are advised not to consume the salsa dip and discard it immediately.

Interestingly, this recall comes on the heels of another dairy-related voluntary recall by Frito-Lay last month. In that instance, the company recalled some packages of Lay's Classic Potato Chips after a consumer complaint sparked an investigation into undeclared milk ingredients possibly stemming from sour cream and onion chips.
