Melissa McBride sparks fan excitement by reviving iconic role in the spin-off series, “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon!”

Just when you thought it was lights out for AMC's long-loved drama, “The Walking Dead,” it claws its way back from the grave. This time, the spotlight lands on the still-kicking Carol Peletier.

Melissa McBride is set to return as Carol in the hit spin-off series, “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon." McBride is scheduled to make her grand entrance in the Season 1 finale on Sunday, becoming a regular cast member in Season 2, AMC confirmed.

In the 11 seasons of “The Walking Dead," McBride portrayed the beloved character of Carol. The “Dixon” project was envisioned to pair Carol with fellow fan-favorite Daryl, but McBride initially stepped away due to the complex logistics of filming in Europe.

“There is more to explore in Carol's story, I felt it when we last saw her watch Daryl ride off," McBride shared in a statement. "I'm enthusiastic about continuing her journey in this series."

The spin-off series focuses on the intriguing journey of Daryl in France, where the narrative further develops the how and why of his unexpected displacement. He grapples with unforeseen challenges as he strives to return home.

AMC has also unveiled other spin-offs robustly born from “The Walking Dead"— “Dead City,” with lead actors Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan, and “The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live,” starring original stars Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira. Originally envisaged as a feature film series, AMC pivoted to a serialized format for the Lincoln-Gurira project, confirming its premiere for February.

Lincoln had left “The Walking Dead” in 2018, followed by Gurira in 2020. As for Season 2 of “Dixon," it's currently being produced, though its premiere remains a mystery. Don't miss the Season 1 finale airing Sunday on AMC and AMC+ at 9 p.m. ET.
