The New York Yankees welcomed some positive news on Tuesday, as center fielder Harrison Bader was activated after two straight defeats. Bader missed the beginning of the season due to a left oblique strain sustained during spring training. Consequently, Franchy Cordero was demoted to clear a place for him.

Bader's activation could be the boost the Yankees need, despite unimpressive statistics during his seven minor league rehab games. Manager Aaron Boone expressed confidence that Bader had hit the ball hard and felt good post-injury. Known for his defensive prowess, Bader seems set to strengthen the Yankees' outfield while contributing a roughly league-average bat to the lineup.

Before Bader's return, Isiah Kiner-Falefa, Aaron Hicks, and Aaron Judge, who recently faced a 10-day injured list placement due to a right hip strain, shared center field duties. Both Kiner-Falefa and Hicks had their inexperience and defensive issues, respectively, in the position.

Since joining the Yankees last summer from the St. Louis Cardinals, Bader has played only 14 regular season games, but his performance in playoff games has been promising. Now in his seventh major league season, his career statistics include a .245 batting average, 52 home runs, 177 RBI, 57 stolen bases, and a 97 OPS+.
