A 16-month-old Staten Island baby, Sakani Kamagate, tragically lost his life after ingesting a lethal combination of fentanyl and cocaine. The city Medical Examiner has declared Sakani's death a homicide. The young boy was under his father's supervision when he fell unconscious in their Hamilton Ave. home. Upon his father's emergency call on February 20th, paramedics swiftly transported Sakani to Richmond University Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

Family members lovingly memorialized Sakani as an intelligent, loving, and sweet child who enjoyed time spent with relatives. His hobbies included watching Sesame Street, dancing to music, and helping his mother care for his new baby brother. Sakani's vibrant spirit touched the hearts of many during his short time on earth. The family takes solace in knowing he is in heaven.

As the investigation continues, authorities have yet to determine the source of the deadly substances within the family's home. No arrests have been made at this time.
